“We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.” — Dr. Seuss
Anna and John both grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They first met online in November of 2016, and found that they shared a passion for comics, movies, and geek culture. They decided to meet IRL at a comic book store on December 10th, 2016. Despite Anna getting lost and being early an hour late, they both had an incredible time and fell in love with what made them unique. Less than a year later, Anna and John were engaged to be married.

John proposed on October 8th, 2016 at New York Comic Con.
Using his connections with a man on the inside, John was able to organize the Marvel’s Contest of Couples, a reference to the Marvel’s Contest of Champions game. He made sure they were at the Marvel stage just in time to ‘volunteer’ to enter the contest. The announcer was told to look for Anna’s comic book dress, so he knew exactly which couple to call to the stage.
After a handful of trivia questions, “Anna, will you marry me” appeared on the screen. She knew exactly how to answer! Watch the video here.
Today, Anna and John live in Saratoga Springs, NY with their three kittens, Domino, Wade, and Cable. Anna works as a barista at a licensed Starbucks within a Target — which she naturally calls “Tarbucks.” She is pursuing an associate’s degree in nursing to earn her RN, though she is taking a short semester off to fully enjoy the wedding. John currently works at an entertainment center and would like to open his own automotive repair shop someday, but his biggest dream is to have a family.
